Platform Liftsá -á Enclosure Model Design Issues
Enclosure Material
Enclosure model lifts are
generally made of steel or aluminum frames with steel, glass
or Plexiglas panels.áá A combination of panel materials
is also available, along with special custom
materials and graphics.
Enclosure Height
At the upper landing, the
enclosure can haveá a height
of 42ö above the landing or can be extended to full height and fitted
with a door.
Enclosure Dome
The top of a full height enclosure
can be finished with an acrylic dome that lets in light
but keeps out dust and rain.á This is recommended
for outdoor installations.
Enclosure Ventilation
If locating an Enclosure
Model outdoors, particularly in a warm and sunny
climate, try to locate it on the north side of the building
away from direct sunlight.á Plexiglas may look nice, but
may get very warm compared to a steel enclosure painted a
light color.
Also, remember that the ASME A18.1 standard requires
lifts fitted with glass or Plexiglas walls and domes, and
exposed to sunlight must be fitted with thermostatically
controlled ventilation fans.
